What is Tesl?

Tesl is an interpreter for a simple language which can be used to specify and execute test scripts against a system.

What are the benefits?

Tesl lets you:

  • Specify test scripts in a simple, English-like language which can be understood by both developers and end-users
  • Run those test scripts automatically against the system under test
  • Display the results of all the tests

What do I need to use it?

Tesl is written in Java, and requires a reasonable level of Java knowledge to use effectively, to write the simple adapter needed to connect it to the specific system under test. It will probably be used most effectively with the Ant build tool.

Documentation

A preview of the documentation is available on-line:

Background

Tesl has been created by Paul Boocock of Ashridge Technologies. It is currently in an early stage of development, and no user guide has yet been prepared.

Tesl is an open source product, available for any developer to use as they wish, under an Apache-style licence.

Downloads

The current preliminary release is available at the Tesl project downloads page.

More information and getting involved

If you would like any more information, or if you would like to contribute to the future development of Tesl (Java skills most useful), please contact Paul Boocock
